ANSYS workshop “HPC as enabler to Total Vehicle Simulation”
Many companies are working with CFD models developed to provide insight and answer to a dedicated area. These models are often optimized in terms of model size and approach, to provide as fast as possible turn-around time. However, this can have the effect that several engineers are working with unique models that share most of the geometry. An alternative is to expand into a common model, addressing several areas at the same time. This model can be significant larger in terms of mesh size etc, but using effective HPC makes this a cost effective approach. The described methodology is discussed for an automotive car, where areas as Aerodynamics, Thermal & Cooling are simultaneously simulated. It is also shown how HPC is enabler for keeping simulation times more than acceptable.
